yes to this one. basically, what he saw was a summary of
the "survey month", which included the discussion of the mean fiddler gig.
i had tacked on some things to the end (condensed, but not taken out
of their original context) posts by tim, ed, joe nicholson, and myself.

looking back at those now, i feel (as i thought when i read his letter)
that he took you to the mat unnecessarily for an honest question.
it is my fault that it ever came up, of course, so i am sorry.
